Where to Get the Best Fideuà in Barcelona, Paella’s Catalan Cousin

Where to Get the Best Fideuà in Barcelona, Paella's Catalan Cousin

One dish that you absolutely have to try when you visit Barcelona is fideuà, a local specialty that’s an alternative to paella. Many tourist traps have this dish on the menu, but when you have it you want the real deal. Here are a few restaurants where you can get the best fideuà in Barcelona, as recommended by locals!

What is fideuà?

Fideuà is prepared in the same way as paella except for one key difference. While paella uses traditional bomba rice as the main component, fideuà swaps out the rice for small vermicelli noodles. Just like paella, fideuà originates from Valencia, just south of Catalonia. However, it has become a staple dish in Catalan cuisine, filled with fresh seafood, veggies, and noodles. Fideuà is often accompanied with ali-oli, a creamy garlic sauce that enhances its deep flavors even more. Since fideuà is such a complete dish and can utilize an array of ingredients, there’s a variety for just about everyone!
