AMAZING CATALAN WINES TO WATCH FOR IN 2017
“La Guia de vins de Catalunya” (Catalonia Wine Guide), released last month in Barcelona, presents the result of 1381 blind tastings from 282 Catalan wineries.
Created in 2008 by Jordi Alcover and Silvia Naranjo, this year’s edition was showcased at the Teatre Liceu of Barcelona, a renowned scene in Catalan culture.
The following prizes were awarded during the gala:
- Best Wine: Ex aequo with 9.86 points, Pater 2013, Ficària Vins, D.O. Montsant; Molí dels Capellans Trepat 2014, Molí dels Capellans, D.O. Conca de Barberà.
- Best Red Wine: Ex aequo with 9.86 points, Pater 2013, Ficària Vins, D.O. Montsant; Molí dels Capellans Trepat 2014, Molí dels Capellans, D.O. Conca de Barberà.
- Best White Wine: Ex aequo with 9.82 points, Microvi C. Blanca Collita Tardana Acàcia 2015, La Vinyeta, D.O. Empordà; Matraketa Blanc 2015, Ficària Vins, D.O. Montsant; Vinum Verum Cartoixà 2015, Terroir al Límit, D.O.Q. Priorat; Collbaix Singular Blanc d’Àmfora 2013, Celler El Molí, D.O. Pla de Bages.
- Best Sparkling Wine: Mestres Mas Via Vintage Brut Gran Reserva Màgnum 1997, Caves Mestres, D.O. Cava, with 9.83 points.
- Best Sweet Wine: Masia Pairal Can Carreras Garnatxa de l’Empordà, Celler Martí Fabra, DO Empordà with 9.81 points.
- Best Rosé Wine: Cal·ligrama, Celler Aixalà Alcait, DOQ Priorat, with 9.65 points.
Honorary awards were attributed to:
- Career: Josep Bujan.
- Territory: Bodegas Puiggròs.
- Future: Aliances per la Terra.
- Consumer information: Recaredo.
There was a showroom dedicated to the wines that obtained a grade of 9.5/10.
