1. What inspired you to become a food tour guide?

I love communicating with people, and most importantly, I love to make people’s lives funnier and better! As a guide, I can do all of that while having a lot of fun!

2. What’s the most important thing you hope guests take away from your food tours?

Good memories, definitely! That they go home thinking they have had the time of their lives!

3. How do you help guests connect with the local culture and community?

By being part of this community. Sometimes people live in a place but don’t know the places, the history, the people. So being an active member of a community gives you not only purpose but property too.

4. Can you share a memorable moment from one of your tours?

There are sooo many. But there was this one guy that arrived with a group of college students and he was clearly sad about something. So I (despite being in the saddest hardest moment in my life) did my best to cheer him up, with knowledge, food, jokes, and magic. At the end of the tour, that guy told me he had one of the best days of his life! I felt like I was fulfilling my purpose in life that day.

5. Which is your city’s best place?

That’s the hardest question! There are so many! But, if I had to choose, it would be Restaurante Augusto. Great menu (best bacalhau com natas, amazing desserts)!
