Petiscos is a lesser-known cousin of Spanish tapas. But not less tasty! On this evening crawl, you’ll discover Lisbon’s social and cultural heart through its delicious cuisine.
THE TOUR
The Portuguese typically serve petiscos as small, shareable appetizers and pair them with a refreshing glass of beer or the typical vinho verde. These are also social foods, encouraging you to take things slowly, share, and have fun with fellow food lovers.
Going uphill in this beautiful buzzing city is unavoidable, but having a tasty treat at the top makes it all worth it. And since Lisbon is the birthplace of petiscos, you’re in the right place! You’ll try quintessential local delicacies such as chouriço assado, flame-grilled sausage, peixinhos da horta, fried green beans, and Bolinhos de Bacalhau, crispy codfish fritters.
But you won’t only enjoy these delicious dishes… Your friendly host will tell you about the intriguing historical events that shaped this rich culture in a fun and interactive way!
So let us show you the real Lisbon on this petiscos crawl evening tour away from the crowds.
Highlights
- Expect an extensive selection of approximately 10 petiscos dishes and 4 local drinks in 4 diverse eateries. Away from the tourist trails, you’ll uncover little by little Lisbon’s rich history and vibrant culture at all these places.
- Begin with delicious Port wine and Portuguese cheeses at a charming local Mercearia, a delicatessen hangout place.
- Visit a picturesque, centuries-old building that houses an excellent restaurant and a local favorite. Expect traditional dishes with a modern twist like octopus and pork paired with fine Alentejo wine.
- You’ll experience the energy of a typical Portuguese tavern, or tasca. Tascas are known for their family-style meals and welcoming atmosphere, which makes them an ideal place to soak up local culture. However, the chef here takes classic recipes to another level… Historic elegance meets modern innovation featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
- End your tour in style by indulging in one of Lisbon’s most iconic treats, the world-renowned Pastéis de Nata. Savor the finest rendition of this beloved pastry, crafted to perfection with a crisp, golden crust and a rich, creamy filling.
